Welcome to Thailand! When I went to Thailand, I did the Bangkok, Chang Mai, Koh Tao route. However, for this post, I will be talking about Ko Tao. This is a hidden gem in the Thai islands. Most people tend to visit Ko Samui or Ko-Pha-ngan. Ko Tao tends to be quieter. It’s multiple ways to get to the island of Ko Tao. You can take a ferry or a helicopter to the island. Either way, it will be a fun adventure to find yourself lost on this island! When you get to the island, you will be bombarded by taxi drivers asking you for a ride. If you don’t have a ride from the airport, the taxi is your best bet. This place is a grand island to sit back and relax.
This island is filled with so much to do! On the first day, I wanted to relax a bit. The rooms we got were excellent! This room with a private pool was only $127 a night! What a steal! This hotel was so relaxing, and the first night we got to Ko Tao, I just wanted to sleep and rest. I spent a lot of time in this pool, relaxing and with a gin and tonic in my hand. Shark Bay is the most popular beach here on Ko Tao. You want to take a taxi to Shark Bay, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants on the beach. Have some fun and enjoy yourself!
Snorkeling is a significant activity to do in Ko Tao! When I went snorkeling, I came across a baby shark! That was a great experience to get to see something like that. While walking down the street, I noticed these two giant fruits hanging from a tree. I was in awe when I saw this. This is the famous durian. It’s renowned for how much it stinks! Not the taste, but the smell! This fruit is banned at the airport, in restaurants, and in hotels. However, locals love it here, and clearly, people like it.
